The only thing I know for certain about the Gucci family is that their sunglasses, like so many other name brand manufacturers, are overpriced. I own a pair, however, and do admit that they are my second favorite; right behind my Prada's.
Though all I know is sunglasses, director Ridley Scott's interest in the family goes beyond fashion.
Ridley Scott to Direct Gucci Biopic
According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has picked up Ridley Scott to direct a Gucci biopic.
Andrea Berloff will pen the script.
Scott's Scott Free production banner would produce along with Giannina Facio who brought the project to Ridley and crew. The exact storyline is unclear, although it is known to span many years and several locales tracking the lives of the Gucci clan, known for creating one of the elite fashion houses and putting its stamp on the fashion business over the course of decades.
However, behind the scenes the family dynasty was marred by soap opera-style drama: Paolo Gucci almost sent his father, Aldo Gucci, to prison for tax fraud; Maurizio Gucci was murdered in 1995; and his widow, Patrizia Gucci, was convicted three years later of ordering his assassination.
Wow, that doesn't sound fabulous at all.
Scott hasn't decided on whether to make Gucci his next project until he reads Berloff's script.
