I had promised you guys a review for Superman
Returns by tonight and have to report that I missed the screening. Well, I didn't miss it exactly... here is my story.
Late for Superman Returns
The problem with driving from Newport Beach to North Hollywood is that each freeway you have to jump on is extremely similar to, oh, I don't know, Satan's asshole right around rush hour.
After sitting on the road for a couple of hours I missed the closed doors by fifteen minutes. The screening was at The Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and I do admit that I am somewhat disappointed to have missed the opportunity to see Superman Returns there.
However, some good did seem to come out of this.
First, by waiting until next week I will now be able to catch the Spider-Man 3 teaser playing in theatres before Superman Returns.
Second, I had the most unlikely sighting while having dinner at an Italian restaurant right next to the theatre.
As I returned from the bathroom I made a joke to my buddy about how the guy sitting next to us looked exactly like Bam Margera's father, Phil. We continued to eat and by the time I had finished my plate of veal I took another look over and realized that there was a good chance the guy actually was Phil. Faking that I had a phone call, I walked around their table to see if the blonde hair lady sitting with 'Phil' was Bam's mom. And so it was!
So, yes, I was able to eat dinner right next to the Margera's. I know, I know, it really isn't that cool, but I am trying to find a positive in driving hours in traffic for nothing.
Superman Returns will fly into theatres on June 28th.
