Sylvester Stallone in Deathrace 2000
Paul W.S. Anderson’s producing partner, Jeremy Bolt, said that they are close to making a deal for their remake of Deathrace 2000, after many years of development. “Paul came in, wrote the script, got it a lot closer and I think we should be making our announcement in the next two or three weeks,” said Bolt.
Deathrace 2000 Remake
Roger Corman’s Deathrace 2000 made up for its low budget with a satirical tone about a gladiatorial race in the future. Now, that’s hardly satire. “We’ve basically taken the idea of Reality television and extended it 20 years, so it’s definitely a comment on society and particularly reality television, but it is not as much a parody or a satire as the original. It’s more straight ahead.”
They still hope to get Stallone back for at least a cameo. “That would be great. We talk about it a lot.”
