M. Night Shyamalan on set of Signs.
With David Yates at the helm of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix we are left with two more Potter films that still need a director. Considering that the Potter books continue to get darker we need a director who can handle the subject of fantasy while keeping the overall tone damn near black. But who can handle such a job? M. Night Shyamalan?
Shyamalan to Direct Harry Potter?
The good people over at CS recently bumped into M. Night Shyamalan for his upcoming film Lady in the Water and got the director to touch upon the 'Potter dance' that he has been taking part in ever since the first film.
"You know, that Harry Potter dance has gone on a long time," he told us. "The problem is that it is a living breathing thing now, all by itself. When it comes over to my camp, it needs to be kind of handed over, adoption papers and everything. That's a tricky move.
"I haven't met with J.K. [Rowling]," he continued. "The first one was offered to me, but that conflicted with 'Unbreakable,' which was unfortunate. I would definitely, but I think probably before that I would adapt a book. I've gotten close a few times to adapting books."
You want to adapt a book? Umm, Harry Potter is a book!
