Freddie Prinze Jr. can only succeed in the romance or teenie-bopper genres. Every film I have seen him in where he tries to take a more gritty approach is just plain sad. Fortunately for him, romantic comedies are at an all new high and they are always looking for new male leads.
Prinze Jr., Manning for Jack and Jill vs. the World
According to Variety, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Taryn Manning will team up to star in Jack and Jill vs. the World for writer-director Vanessa Parise.
A romantic satire of the advertising world, Jack and Jill vs. The World tells the story of a cynical guy who falls for a carefree young girl with a secret.
Parise co-wrote with Peter Stebbings. Parise, Roger Spottiswoode, Nicholas Tabarrok and Magnet Management are producing. Vanessa Parise last directed the indie film Kiss the Bride.
Taryn Manning, who is also a singer, is prepping a solo album and is expected to contribute songs to Jack and Jill.
Hopefully some day Freddie Prinze Jr. will be able to convince me that he can handle more adult genres. I used to feel the same way about Josh Hartnett up until Sin City and Lucky Number Slevin.
