Christian Bale in The Prestige
The gloves may have just come off for two strangely similar magic films coming our way. Both period pieces, The Illusionist and The Prestige deliver a world full of on-stage magic.
Yari Film Group delivered the first trailer for The Illusionist last week and it now looks like Touchstone is preparing to strike back.
The Prestige Trailer Footage
Entertainment Tonight recently offered their very own first look at The Prestige which came packed with footage from the upcoming trailer.
From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins), comes a mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy full of obsession, deceit and jealousy with dangerous and deadly consequences.
From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them. Full of twists and turns, The Prestige is set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London.
It is hard to say what excites me more -- the look of the film or having Bale, Jackman, Caine, Johansson and Nolan all working together.

Figure I might as well point out that I am also geeked on The Illusionist as well.
The Prestige opens to theatres on October 27, 2006.
