Angelina continues to pick up films faster than she can adopt foreign children. Earlier this week it was announced that she would have a voice in the upcoming animation Kung Fu Panda (here) and now she has found a story a little more morbid.
Angelina Jolie for A Mighty Heart
According to Variety, Paramount Vantage has picked up Angelina Jolie to play Mariane Pearl in A Mighty Heart, an adaptation of Pearl's memoir about the kidnapping and murder of her journalist husband Daniel Pearl by Pakistani militants.
Michael Winterbottom is finalizing a deal to direct.
Brad Pitt's Plan B is producing, as is Winterbottom's producing partner, Andrew Eaton.
A Mighty Heart tells the story o Mariane Pearl's search to locate her husband after he went missing in Pakistan. Also a journalist, Pearl was pregnant at the time. The drama ended as Pearl was murdered by his abductors, suspected to be Muslim terrorists tied to Al Qaeda.
"I am delighted that Angelina Jolie will be playing my role in the adaptation of my book," said Pearl. "I deeply admire her work and what she is committed to. I am also happy that Michael Winterbottom a versatile and talented director who genuinely loves truth will be working on this project as well."
Production of the film is expected to begin in the next five weeks.
