Has it been some time since anything has truly impressed you? Well, it looks like Warner Bros has just supplied the solution. Sending over two featurettes for Superman Returns, I am still in total shock over what I just saw.
For those of you who can't figure out how Bryan Singer spent all that money, you have got to check out these clips.
Superman Returns Featurette Clips
That's right people, Sony Pictures' Imageworks is impressive, most impressive. The CG work the studio did is simply unbelievable. During the shuttle sequence in the film when Superman flies below the aircraft to help push it into orbit I figured that the Superman we saw was actually Brandon Routh hanging from wires. What I didn't know is that the person I was looking at was completely CG, with all details -- including the muscles -- figured into the animation. Holy crap is that cool!

Before you ask, the video clip does not feature any sound; not that it needs any. Once you are done with that we can move on to the most lifelike CG face I have ever seen -- Marlon Brando resurrected!
That's right folks, the Marlon Brando we saw in Superman Returns was actually a complete CG representation of the late actor. The CG face looks so money that it seems real from just about every angle.
With these types of abilities just think about what is in store for the future of film.
