I have never been a fan of zombie films unless the film had no problem spoofing every cliché that comes with the genre; Shaun of the Dead of example. Though I don't have a taste for it, that doesn't mean the horror genre is -- excuse the pun -- close to dead.
One such example is the revamping of the zombie classic from George Romero, Day of the Dead.
Rhames, Suvari, Cannon for Day of the Dead
According to Variety, Millennium Films has picked up a trio of cast members for the zombie remake with Ving Rhames, Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon.
"Nick Cannon, who the hell is Nick Cannon?"
"Daddy, Nick Cannon is hilarious."
"Hilarious huh? Well, Nick Cannon just ran off with your school clothes money. I am broke b*tch!"
Day of the Dead revolves around a group of military personnel and scientists who hole up in a bunker while flesh-eating zombies run riot above ground. Things seem OK until the personnel realize the bunker isn't safe for long.
Steve Miner (Halloween H2O, Lake Placid) is directing the zombie pic from a screenplay by Jeffrey Reddick, who penned the Final Destination franchise.
Mena Suvari was recently seen in Rumor Has It while Ving Rhames dominated the box office in M:i:III.
You can hear Nick Cannon this week with the release of Monster House.
