Clerks II may have the most nudity of any Kevin Smith film, and it’s all Jason Mewes. He does one referential dance number complete with the awkward nude scene of the film it spoofs, and also bumps his bare ass against the Mooby’s window.
Nudity in Clerks II
“I was fine with it as long as I didn’t have to show my ass,” Mewes said of the nearly full frontal scene. “That was my first thing. I was like, ‘Am I going to be covered up? Am I going to have a robe on?’ I didn’t mind tucking and showing the front, but I didn’t want to have my pasty, white ass shown. I’m not too comfortable with my ass.”
So how, then, did Smith get him to moon the interior of Mooby’s? “It’s different smushing it up against a window. It’s like seeing my ass in the dark versus me standing up here and pulling my pants down and all you guys looking at my ass. That was the difference. Against the window, I don’t mind doing that. But just standing there with my ass, I’m like the guy who after sex, puts on my boxers right away unless I’ve been with the girl for a long time and it doesn’t matter. I know you all wanted to know that with me putting the boxers on. I’m sure a couple of you guys do it too.”
Off set was a different story. According to new clerk Trevor Fehrman, Mewes will whip it out any time. “It’s hard to not to feel intimate with a group of people when within days of meeting someone, you’ve seen their testicles,” said Fehrman. “Mewes will show you his testicles with very little coaxing. And I don't know why. It’s not like they’re particularly beautiful. I don’t get what the deal is.”
How does the anally insecure Mewes explain that? “I don’t know, I do it all the time,” he said. “I talk, I pull my balls out, I do silly things. I don’t know what I’m thinking at times. It’s weird because I’ll show my balls and get naked, but I don’t want to show my ass, which I don’t know why. It’s just weird.”
Fehrman tells his story as a warning to all who may socialize with Mewes. “We were playing poker one night and like they say all roads lead to Rome, all conversation topics lead to Jason’s scrotum. He starts talking about how he’s going to show us his balls, he’s going to show us what he colloquially likes to refer to as the brain. I’ll let you infer your own friggin’ image for that. We’re playing poker so I’m kind of in the mood and I’m going to call his bluff, right? So I’m like, ‘You’re not going to show me your balls.’ I’ve known him for two days or three days. I’m like, ‘You’re not going to show me your balls’ and he’s like, ‘Oh yeah?’ Just whips them right out. No coaxing at all. The image is burned into my brain forever. Jason’s f*ckin’ genitals.”
Mewes has a different take on that incident. “Yeah, he was like ‘You won’t do it, you won’t do it.’ And I said, ‘Sir, you’re going to get tea bagged, you are going to be tea bagged. So he fell asleep, I dropped ‘em in. Come on, common, you girls enjoy a tea bag every once in a while! Ladies, come on.”
