After finding success with Hoodwinked!,
The Weinstein Company has been adamant about keeping up with lower-budget
CG animations. One such new animation is Igor, with the
studio picking up a trio, or should I say quadruple, cast.
Slater, Buscemi, Cleese, Leno Star for Igor
According to Variety,
Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi and John Cleese have jumped on board the
feature Weinstein animation Igor; after having already
taken part in the film short.
Though it has not been said whether Jay Leno will join the cast, he did
have a part in the original Igor short.
Twist on the monster genre follows a mad scientist's hunchbacked lab assistant
who has big dreams of winning the Evil Science Fair.
Slater will voice the lead role of Igor, with Buscemi as Scamper -- an intelligent,
sarcastic lab rabbit -- and Cleese as Igor's evil master.
Cleese has been a huge addition to the Shrek franchise
and should come across strong as the film's villain.
The Weinstein Company has North American rights
and is representing international territories.
After the success of Hoodwinked! The Weinstein Company
has gone big with animated projects including Opus, The
Cricket in Times Square and a new installment in the Teenage
Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. The studio has also unveiled plans
for a Hoodwinked! sequel, Hood vs. Evil.
