Casino Royale
Columbia Pictures has recently given a big middle
finger to all the Daniel Craig haters for Casino
Royale. Though some fans of the franchise have set up campaigns
to complain about Craig as the new Bond, Columbia Pictures remains unfizzled.
Instead, the studio has picked Craig up for the next Bond film due out in
2008.
Craig Returns for Bond Sequel
During an extended screening of Casino Royale it
was mentioned that Sony was extremely happy with the look of the film so
far. So happy in fact that they have greenlit another Bond film before Craig
has had a chance to tell the bartender whether he likes his martini shaken
or stirred.
"As we wrap production on Casino Royale, we couldn't
be more excited about the direction the franchise is heading with Daniel
Craig," producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said in a
news release from Sony Pictures. "Daniel has taken the origins of Ian
Fleming's James Bond portraying, with emotional complexity, a darker and
edgier 007."
Since I have been amped on Daniel Craig ever since seeing the actor dominate
the screen in Matthew Vaughn's Layer Cake, I couldn't be
happier with the news.
Casino Royale comes to theatres on November 17th.
