Zoom Poster
With every update I have given on Zoom
I have been sure to point out the film's similarities, or should I say relationship,
to Galaxy Quest. I still find the Tim Allen comedy to be one of the most
underrated spoofs of all time and laugh my ass off every time I watch the
film on DVD; we need to get Tim Allen and Sam Rockwell together again.
It turns out the Tim Allen recently read one of our first updates on the
film, which did feature a Galaxy Quest comparison, and
has sent us a little response.
Zoom with Tim Allen
Note from Tim Allen:
Good vibe for seeing the similarity to Galaxy Quest. The
original creative was to do the same reality check we did with space heroes
but in the world of super-heroes. I was happy as a clam making and being
apart of Galaxy Quest and I was excited that Zoom
would offer the same experience. We hit at almost 85% of what I wanted with
the cool details that make it work for me. So the outcome (of Zoom)
is in the game. I am a real Sci-Fi buff and the studio seemed a bit confused
at some of the foundational elements I wrote in as critical to good Sci-Fi.
It is a no fault situation, just preferences. It is their money.
So what you see promoted is aimed a bit young...almost
like was done with the Galaxy Quest promotional. But there is lots to laugh
at and look at. I just loved to be the smart ass in this. It’s a good
ride. The cast added so much. Courteney Cox and I had a great time working
together. And I got to fly a spaceship again! What’s the down side?

Like what you hear? Good to hear the guy so confident; remember that confidence
instills more confidence.
