Yeah, I'm pretty excited too.
Martin Scorsese announced that Mark [Marky Mark]
Wahlberg will be joining the already impressive cast of The
Departed, also starring Golden Globe winner Leonardo DiCaprio
and Matt Damon.
Marky Mark is Departed
The Departed is a Martin Scorsese adaptation of the Hong Kong film
Wu jian dao. The movie is about two main characters, a cop [Leonardo
DiCaprio] and a gangster [Matt Damon]. Each character has altered roles
as the cop attempts to infiltrate the mob while the gangster attempts to
infiltrate the ranks of the Boston police department. Each character works
as a mole for the other side, each with the primary purpose to flush the
other out.
While neither of these characters includes Mark Wahlberg, he has been assigned
the character of another cop that still has a large role in The Departed.
Guessing he befriends, or discovers, the gangster who is working as a cop.
William Monahan wrote the adapted screenplay for The Departed.
Monahan is also credited for writing the screenplay for Kinddom
of Heaven.
