Russell Crowe is preparing to get moving again with 3:10 to Yuma.
Relativity, Crowe, Mangold Take the 3:10 to Yuma
According to Variety, Relativity Media is close to finalizing a deal that will have them fully finance 3:10 to Yuma. Russell Crowe will star with James Mangold directing. Mangold will also produce the film.
Crowe would play a desperado caught by a local sheriff determined to transport him to captivity; the villain's accomplices stage an ambush. Columbia adapted an Elmore Leonard short story to make the 1957 original pic, which starred Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.
Stuart Beattie, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas wrote the script.
3:10 to Yuma originally was looking to Tom Cruise to star, but Crowe stepped up after falling out of Baz Luhrmann's next film.
The film is expected to enter production this fall.
