I had hoped that many moviegoers who were unable to catch V
for Vendetta in theatres would capitalize on the film's release to DVD. With the film now at the top of the DVD charts I couldn't be happier.
Long live the revolution.
V for Vendetta Tops DVD Charts
According to Reuters, V for Vendetta opened at number one on both the DVD sales and rental charts.
The film from producers Andy and Larry Watchowski and director by James McTeigue easily outsold its nearest competitor, the Tim Allen remake of The Shaggy Dog, by a margin of more than 2-to-1 for the week ending August 6th.
In theaters, V for Vendetta was able to gross $70.5 million. On video the film has already brought in $9.4 million, ~$200,000 ahead of the previous week's champ, The Benchwarmers.
Before releasing the film to theatres, Warner Bros realized what an asset they had in Alan Moore and purchased his other graphic novel, Watchmen, after the project fell out of Paramount Pictures.
