Skarsgård in King Arthur
It would seem that every male character in the
Pirates of the Caribbean sequel will find their father. First we
had Jack Sparow's [Depp] dad as Keith Richards, and now we have 'Bootstraps'
Turner, the father of William Turner [Bloom].
Stellan Skarsgård is Bootstraps Turner
According to a Swedish newspaper, Aftonbladet, Skarsgård has been
picked up by Bruckheimer to play as 'Bootstraps' Turner in the Pirates
of the Caribbean sequels. In the original movie, 'Bootstraps' is long
gone or, at least, we think he is. It has also been told that we can expect
to see Geoffrey Rush again as well. So, I can only think of a couple explanations
for the appearance of 'Bootstraps'. First, 'Bootstraps' did not die, and
Geoffrey Rush will play the ghost, twin brother, or the surviving Captain
Barbossa. The other option is that we will experience flashbacks that will
allow us to see Barbossa, 'Bootstraps,' and Jack Sparow's father. I would
prefer the first option, of course.
On the decision to choose Stellan Skarsgård for 'Bootstraps,' I couldn't
be happier. While I never saw this actor as much of an 'action buff', his
role in King Arthur [as the coolest guy ever to braid his beard] has quickly
changed my mind. Stellan Skarsgård states:
We are going to shoot around the Los Angeles
area as well as in the Bahamas and the West Indies. I'm playing the old
pirate 'Bootstraps' Turner... it should be fun, I enjoyed the first one.
The Pirates of the Caribbean sequels are continuing to prove their
worth through the return of the entire cast and crew, along with the new
additions in Stellan and Keith.
