Josh Brolin is one of those few 'handsome' actors that can still disappear into any type of gritty character. Take Into the Blue for example. Yes, I know the film was all about the ass shots on Jessica Alba (yum), but it also featured a Brolin who looked absolutely filthy.
It now looks like the actor has found a film to fit in-between his teenie-boppers and horror films.
Brolin Joins Crowe, Washington for American Gangster
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has picked up Josh Brolin to join Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington in American Gangster. The project is being directed by Ridley Scott and produced by Brian Grazer.
Story concerns Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas (Washington), who smuggled heroin in the body bags of U.S. soldiers slain in Vietnam. Brolin plays Det. Trupo, a crooked NYPD cop who piggybacks on the Lucas investigation conducted by Det. Ritchie Roberts (Crowe).
Steve Zaillian wrote the original screenplay and was recently rehired by U to rewrite the script, which was at one point rewritten by Terry George.
Brolin just wrapped Grind House, a two-film project written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. He is also recently finished production on the Coen brothers' upcoming film No Country for Old Men.
