hear that the Wayans plan to get Pretty Ugly.
Marlon Wayans to Get Ugly
According to THR,
DreamWorks Studios and Marlon Wayans are teaming up to deliver Pretty
Ugly.
Wayans is set to develop, produce and star in the story about a handsome
lifestyle mogul who wakes up hideously ugly because of a curse. As a result
he must discover his inner beauty to save his company and win over the woman
he loves.
Things get out of hand, however, when the mogul begins to dress like a white
chick and uses a midget to handle the, uhh, smaller tasks. Ok, Ok, I made
this last part up; but you never know when a Wayans steps on board.
It turns out that the arrival of Marlon Wayans gave fresh life to the project
after it had been passed back and forth between DreamWorks and Disney. Wayans
met DreamWorks exec John Fox on the set of Norbit and the
two immediately discussed the basis of Pretty Ugly.
Sony Pictures' Little Man, in which Wayans stars, opened
to more than $20 million on its first weekend. Wayans previously donned
extreme character makeup in 2004's White Chicks for Sony,
which went on to earn more than $100 million worldwide.
Though I find these films to fall in the 'stupid' genre, there is still
a large enough audience for them.
