Lesson learned -- do not fire your publicist in favor of your Scientologist sister. If you are a Scientologist, you are bound to be making matters even worse for yourself. Though Tom Cruise has now replaced his sister after all of his popularity-hurting antics, the actor is still feeling the negative effects of his actions.
Cruise and Paramount Break Up
Though the gifted actor is trying to recover, Tom Cruise is slowly turning into the second coming of Michael Jackson. Now that he has calmed down, Cruise continues to create media problems for himself; take the lacking proof of baby Suri's existence.
Though Cruise has felt the effects of his actions in the media it has now come time for him to feel them on the business scale.
According to Reuters, Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures unit is ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's film production company because of the actor's offscreen behavior, the company's chairman said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Though Cruise has been a big part of the financial success of Paramount films in which the actor stars, the decision by the studio to end their relationship was strictly personal.
Sumner Redstone, Viacom chairman, said the behavior of the star of the Mission: Impossible series and Top Gun was unacceptable to the company, according to the Wall Street Journal story e-mailed to reporters.
"As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal," Redstone was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal. "His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."
Umm, ouch.
Tom Cruise just has to lay low for about a year, keep his mouth shut, and hope the media returns its attention to either a feud between two female actresses or whether Pitt still loves Aniston; you know, something trivial.
