Now that Jesse James has been pushed, Jeremy Renner has been seeking new projects to fill his time.
Renner for 28 Weeks Later
Back in May I caught up with Renner in Hollywood and ended up eating brunch with the growing actor. Jeremy is a very nice guy who seems to strive at keeping his projects fresh and surprisingly different. The topic of conversation at brunch was obviously his role in Jesse James, though we did find time to talk some of his smaller films as well. You can check out the entire brunch HERE.
But where were we?
According to Variety, Fox has picked up Jeremy Renner to play the leading role in the sequel to the zombie thriller 28 Days Later. Can't say the title is too originally, but 28 Weeks Later should be a strong reminder to fans who loved the first installment.
Story picks up six months after the end of the first pic, in which a virus spreads, leaving few survivors. Special Forces is working to restore order and helping repopulate London when a carrier of the virus unknowingly ignites a reinfection. Renner will play Sgt. Doyle, one of the heroes of the sequel.
Though it is too early to say, 28 Weeks Later seems closer to the premise of Doom or Resident Evil than it does 28 Days Later; just my two cents.
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is directing from a script by Rowan Joffe. Andrew MacDonald, Andrew Garland and Danny Boyle produce. Boyle directed the first installment.
Renner, who starred in the indie drama Dahmer, has most recently been seen in North Country and Lords of Dogtown.
