I don't know who the casting agent is for Mike Newell's latest project, but I am wondering if there was some condition that said each cast member needs to have a complicated last name and, if not, at least an 'O' at the end.
Leguizamo, Elizondo, Montenegro for Love of the Time of Cholera
According to Variety, John Leguizamo, Hector Elizondo and Fernanda Montenegro have joined the cast of Love in the Time of Cholera. The three new additions will join Javier Bardem, Benjamin Bratt and Giovanna Mezzogiorno.
The film, directed by Mike Newell, is an adaptation of the Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel.
The novel is about a fifty-year love triangle between Fermina Daza, Florentino Ariza and Doctor Juvenal Urbino and takes place from the late 19th century into the early 20th Century. The novel explores the idea that suffering for love is a kind of nobility.
Well, I guess that depends on the suffering. If the suffering consists of your spouse turning you into her man-slave, well, nothing noble there.
Ron Harwood (The Pianist) will adapt the novel.
Stone Village is fully financing the film; New Line is set to distribute domestically. Production is slated to begin Sept. 4 in Cartagena, Colombia, and London.
