Beyond the Poseidon Adventure DVD Review
The film is 30 years old, but the Warner Brothers logo is still crisp and shiny. Really, except for the unavoidable film grain, everything is pretty sharp. All the debris is in sharp focus, pointing your eye to all the carnage.
The colors give an HDTV set a workout, with Michael Caine’s bright white tugboat approaching the deep red bottom of the capsized boat. Caine’s red shirt gets dirtier and dirtier but it still radiates. Shiny pipes and glowing fires decorate the interior shots and a red glow illuminates many of the treacherous crevices.
