Ashton Kutcher has a surprising array of genres that he can fill. Though he was born out of comedy and should always excel at it, the young actor is just as suited for thrillers.

According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has picked up The Engineer as a starring vehicle for Ashton Kutcher.
Jason Goldberg, Kutcher's partner in Katalyst Prods., will produce.
To be written by Mike Finch, The Engineer covers 24 frantic hours in the life of an American engineer in Tokyo after he's labeled a terrorist. Finch recently wrote another thriller, Adrenaline, for Intermedia.
Finch will use thrillers like North by Northwest and Run Lola Run as inspiration.
Kutcher and Katalyst have a history of projects together including The Butterfly Effect, Guess Who and the MTV series Punk'd.
Kutcher will next be seen starring with Kevin Costner in The Guardian, which Disney opens Sept. 29. He also provides a lead voice for the animated film Open Season and has a cameo in Bobby.
