Allison Janney couldn't figure what she liked doing more -- film or television -- and has worked an agreement or two to keep her busy in both.
Asllison Janney for Hairspray
According to Variety, Allison Janney is the newest addition to the cast of Hairspray. Janney willl play Prudy Pingleton, the overbearing mother of Penny (Amanda Bynes) who believes that dancing and having fun is sinful.
The actress joins John Travolta, Queen Latifah, Christopher Walken, Bynes, Michelle Pfeiffer, James Marsden, Zac Efron and Nikki Blonsky.
Besides film, Janney has also made a deal to develop a sitcom over at CBS. The new series -- whatever it may be -- will aim for a fall 2007 slot. Besides using the new sitcom as a starring vehicle, Janney will also produce.
Janney's past comedic work includes Private Parts, 10 Things I Hate About You and Six Days, Seven Nights.
Production on Hairspray will begin this September for a summer 2007 release.
