Double Indemnity Double Indemnity
Double Indemnity is a classic, of course, so you don’t need to know too much about its latest DVD release. But this two disc set comes with one extra feature I never knew existed: a 1973 TV movie remake of the film. Running only 74 minutes, it’s easy to watch as a curiosity piece, and it satisfies that curiosity well.

Richard Crenna does a respectable Sam McMurray. All the costars fill their parts well, including the redhead femme fatale. Of course, it’s exactly the same story, so the only reason to watch it is to see that somebody else performed the same roles and didn’t make it a joke.

For a 1970s TV show, it’s restored in great quality. I looks like Technicolor, but that might just be the loud fashion and interior design.

Stay tuned for updates.
