District B13
District B13 reminds me of a French version of Jackie Chan's Rumble in the Bronx. Both lead characters, Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle, are new to the domestic scene and both deliver impressive and unrelenting action sequences. The only problem is the story is only so-so, so thank God for the wonders of DVD.
District B13 DVD Review
Expect District B13 to do pretty well on DVD. After watching the film a single time, you are bound to find yourself showing the action sequences off to your friends time and time again. The sequences are very easy to find thanks to District B13's story structure. First we encounter Leito (David Belle) and get to watch his action/stunt spectacle. Next we encounter Damien (Raffaelli) and get to see him go at it in solo mode. Then the two meet and we get to see a couple action sequences with them working together, or against one another, by the end of the film.
Fast forward, rewind, fast foward, rewind, and repeat.
Though the DVD doesn't come packed with much, it comes with everything one would hope for a film such as this.
Impressed by the action sequences? Well, fortunately for you, the film comes with an extended fight sequence to feast your eyes on. Since there are so many stunts there must be mistakes, right? Yes, and we get to see all kinds of different outtakes as well.
The only other feature is a standard "Making of," which is pretty cool.
What Magnolia Pictures should have added was a menu that takes us directly to each action sequence but, for now, the remote will have to do.
Stay tuned for updates.
