Horton Hears a Who!
Strike up another bigscreen adaptation of a Dr. Seuss tale but this time it will be CG instead of live-action. No matter, with the first names being big hitters, we shouldn't care what medium this adaptation comes in. Besides, Jim Carrey has already done the live-action Dr. Seuss.
Jim Carrey, Steve Carell for Horton Hears a Who!
According to THR, Jim Carrey has been picked up by 20th Century Fox Animation to play Horton and Steve Carell the mayor of Who-Ville in the adaptation of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who.
Carrey is somewhat of an alumni to the Dr. Seuss adaptations with his role as Grinch in Universal Pictures' The Grinch. In Horton Hears a Who, Carrey will voice the role of Horton, the elephant who knows that a person's a person, no matter how small.
Carell, a newcomer to Dr. Seuss, will voice the mayor of Who-Ville, a distinguished figure of a very small size, too small to be seen by the elephant's eyes.
Horton is about an imaginative elephant who hears a cry for help coming from a tiny speck of dust floating through the air. Suspecting there may be life on that speck and despite a surrounding community that thinks he has lost his mind, Horton is determined to help.
The film version is based on the classic book, first published in 1954, by Ted Geisel, who wrote under the pen name Dr. Seuss.
The project will be produced at Blue Sky Studios, the animation group responsible for films such as Ice Age, Ice Age: The Meltdown and Robots.
Horton Hears a Who marks the first time Jim Carrey has ever lent his voice for an animated production.
