It was only back in July when Number 9 Films was
able to convince Jim Broadbent and Colin Firth to join the cast of And
When Did You Last See Your Father?. Now, only a couple months later,
the picture house has gotten Sony Pictures Classics on board as well.
Tucker, Firth, Broadbent and And When Did You Last See Your Father?
Get Sony
According to Variety,
Sony Pictures Classics has picked up North American and Latin American rights
to helmer Anand Tucker's And When Did You Last See Your Father?
Tucker made his debut in 1998 with Hilary and Jackie,
another movie about real-life family relationships (cello virtuoso Jacqueline
du Pre and sister Hilary). He directed last year's Steve Martin comedy Shopgirl.
Colin Firth and Jim Broadbent will star in the film, based on British author
Blake Morrison's memoir of his relationship with his dying father. Scribe
David Nicholls adapted the story for the bigscreen.
Number 9 Films will stay close to production with their very own Stephen
Woolley and Elizabeth Karlsen producing.
Project was developed as part of the UK Film Council's
Super-Slate initiative, in association with Film4, Intandem Films and the
Irish Film Board.
Production on Father is expected to begin in the UK next
month.
