Grease Rockin' Rydell Edition
This has got to be the most brilliant DVD extra
in the history of DVD extras. This is the second Grease
DVD release, so one of the bonus features is the party for the last Grease
DVD release. Guess they didn’t think to have the party before the
DVD so they could just make one special edition.
Grease Rockin' Rydell Edition DVD Review
It begins with generic soundbites as the cast reflects on why the film is
still a hit. The gold is having the grown-up actors perform some of the
classic songs. Olivia Newton-John does “Hopelessly Devoted”
and then Travolta comes up for “One That I Want.” Finally, the
whole cast closes out with “Summer Nights.”
It is worth rebuying Grease just to enjoy the modern versions
of the classic songs, and just for the bittersweet irony of enjoying an
extra feature that was essentially about the last DVD you already bought.
Stay tuned for updates.
