Boondock Saints
Since The Boondock Saints barely played theaters and surely those were run down art houses, DVD is probably the best way to see the cult hit. And the best presentation of a DVD is HDTV. It did right by my 56” JVC Projection set.
Boondock Saints DVD Review
With the latest two disc remaster, Boondock Saints really looks like the big screen epic it was supposed to be. Sweeping city shots show crisp on HDTV. Razor sharp lines distinguish signature wardrobes, set scene atmosphere and let violent bursts explode.
Even a dark apartment has flashes of color, like a green blanket. The grey suit scenes look industrial like the factory town in which it is set. Cracks and crevices of all the dumps glorify all the dinge. Even blood splotches are dull to match the muddied mood of the town.
The indie film grain shows through. There are spots on some shots, particularly when there is text, as if the second generation printing collected some dirt. But that’s what makes it real.
Stay tuned for updates.
