Dave England Talks Fire Hose Rodeo in Jackass: Number Two
“Oh, God I hopped on that thing and got it over with,” said
England. “That day I didn’t even know. I woke up and had a horrible
hangover. And I woke up and looked in my backpack. We went to the Florida
Everglades and they had handed out these clear suits to us so I just put
on my clear suit with nothing underneath it and I’m like, ‘Ah,
look at me. I’m naked but not.’ Then all of sudden they’re
like, ‘Today we’ll be doing this fire hose thing and who wants
to go first?’ And everyone was like, ‘You’re dressed for
it!’ ‘I’m wearing a rain suit with nothing under it, that’s
dressed for that?’ and they’re like, ‘Yep.’ And
I’m like, ‘alright.’ They’re like, ‘Here’s
a cowboy hat, buddy.’ They didn’t even have a name for it, they’re
like, ‘uh…the Fire Hose Rodeo.’”
England was the only Jackass to try this event. His attempt discouraged
the rest. “Because we didn’t take it into account. We were actually
like going around, ‘Oh, there’s a rock. Let’s move the
rocks.’ And then once the blast came, it just unearthed all these
jagged rocks.”
The aftermath unleashed a capper that did not even make it into the film.
“What they don’t show is, for no apparent reason, he just got
off this uncontrollable crazy thing that was awesome footage and then landed
on his ass,” recalled Ryan Dunn. “He’s bleeding, and he’s
in a clear suit and this is our job and then all of a sudden you walk up
close to him and he’s like, ‘uuuuuh’ and then, sh*ts.”
England explained, “They all gathered around to look at it and I was
just like, my stomach was all like ugh and sh*t flew out. Well, the ass
had ripped out of it so it just shot. I almost nailed some of the guys.
They might have got splattered because like it just sprayed out of me like
out of pain.”
