Blanchett For Cancer Vixen: A True Story
According to THR,
Cate Blanchett is attached to star in Cancer Vixen: A True Story, a graphic memoir by cartoonist Marisa Acocella Marchetto.
Blanchett is also in talks to produce the film with her husband, Andrew Upton, under their banner Dirty Films.
Marchetto is a cartoonist fashionista for Glamour and the New Yorker. Her autobiography Vixen, which has been generating buzz ahead of its release by Knopf on Tuesday, describes how she fell in love with a celebrity restaurateur and was planning their wedding when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and realized that she had let her health insurance lapse. Her friends -- stylists, gossip columnists, designers -- rallied around her as she wore killer shoes to chemo sessions and strove to get married on time.
Sounds a little too Devil Wears Prada-ish to me, but the ladie moviegoers should dig it.
Blanchett has quite a slew of films coming our way including Babel, The Good German, Notes on a Scandal, I'm Not There and Benjamin Button, which is set to begin production early next year.
