Backdraft
The new Anniversary Edition of Backdraft on DVD is remastered. Any owner of an HDTV must imagine that fire could be the ultimate test of your system. My 56” JVC Projection set was not disappointed.
Backdraft DVD Review
The orange explodes across the screen. Even against broad daylight, it stands out. Sweat glistens in the orange light and floating embers sprinkle the screen. Every curl, wave, ball and lick of flame is defined.
The actual film is from 1991 so that’s kind of right on the borderline of quality. I’ve seen later ‘90s movies show more grain and movies as old as the ‘60s show less. Backdraft stands out and makes a healthy conversion onto HDTV, which may be bad news since Universal’s also trying to push and HD-DVD version of Backdraft. Sorry to say, you’ll be fine with the normal DVD and an HDMI cable.
Stay tuned for updates.
