The Saturday Night Live's "Weekend Update" duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will stay together for an upcoming comedy from Universal.
Fey, Poehler For Baby Mama
According to Variety,
Universal Pictures has picked up Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to star in the upcoming comedy Baby Mama.
Michael McCullers will write the script and direct. McCullers has experience in comedy by helping Mike Myers write the scripts for both Austin Powers sequels The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember. This will, however, be his directing debut on film.
Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn will produce.
Baby Mama tells the story of a single career woman whose desire to have a child and keep her career leads her to hire a surrogate.
Amy Poehler has been busy in film of late with projects that include Spring Breakdown, Southland Tales, Tenacious D in 'The Pick of Destiny', Blades of Glory and a voice role in Shrek the Third.
Fey has remained somewhat more behind the scenes. The actress created, produces and stars in the NBC series 30 Rock. She also dabbles in writing including a script picked up by Paramount for Curly Oxide and Vic Thrill.
