Scarlett Johansson
After The Black Dahlia it would seem that Scarlett Johansson now has a thing for period pieces. Though we have heard the tale of Queen Elizabeth I, it is now Queen Mary's turn.
Scarlett Johansson for Mary Queen of Scots
According to Variety,
Scarlett Johansson will star in Mary Queen of Scots. The actress will play the role of Queen Mary of Scotland. The film is expected to take an inside look at the antagonistic relationship between Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth I of England, who tried to undermine her rule.
Jimmy McGovern wrote a screenplay that has earned a budget between $25 and $30 million from 2929 Entertainment.
Scarlett Johansson's mother, Melanie, will produce the film alongside Alexandra Milchan and Donna Gigliotti.
Production is expected to begin by the end of summer 2007; so no real rush to find a director just yet.
Can't wait that long to see Scarlett? No worries, the actress recently wrapped The Other Boleyn Girl and is currently in theatres with The Black Dahlia. Still not enough? Well, she will also appear in theatres on October 20th with The Prestige.
