Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby
Million
Dollar Baby director, Clint Eastwood was honored as 2004's
best director by the Director's Guild of America at a Beverly Hills Banquet
this past weekend.
Eastwood 2004 Best Director
This honor is often seen as a solid prediction for an Oscar Outcome, however
legendary director, Martin Scorsese is bringing some steep competition with
his eleven-nomination film, The
Aviator. DGA winners have gone on to win an Oscar 51 out
of 57 years, so if you are a believer in history and statistics, than you
would be almost certain that the Oscar for best direction will be awarded
to Eastwood.
Scorsese has never won an Oscar despite being long over due, and his film
The Aviator has picked up quite a number of awards as it soars to Hollywood
for the Academy Awards, scheduled for Feb. 27th. Most recently awarded was
a Lifetime Achievement Award
presented to the star of The Aviator, Leonardo DiCaprio,.
Eastwood's 1992 film, Unforgiven, won him a DGA award, and he also
touts Oscar nominations for Mystic River. Million Dollar Baby
is continuing to pick up momentum as best picture as the Academy Awards
draw nearer.
