There’s no doubt a big hulking guy wearing a mask of human flesh waving a chainsaw around is pretty scary. But, anyone who’s been in the armed forces still can’t watch Full Metal Jacket without having a little flashback. Pair R. Lee Ermey up with Leatherface again in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and all the crazy members of the Hoyt family, and that’s a tag team you don’t want to face.

Even Ermey wouldn’t want to pick a side between the two monsters. “I think everybody will have to make up their own mind there,” he laughed.
The film’s new heroine, Jordana Brewster, was brave enough to announce her true fear. “I’d have to say Leatherface,” she said. “R. Lee Ermey’s a gentleman. He’s a sweet guy. He’s very scary when he’s improvising and the stuff that comes out of his mouth is unbelievable but in real life, he’s very sweet to the ladies at least.”
R. Lee Ermey The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning
To Ermey, the prequel was more about establishing the known traits of each family member, more than out-scary-ing each other. “Leatherface and I have a relationship. Let’s put it this way: we did the remake and there were some things in there that needed to be cleared up. There were some questions raised. What happened to Uncle Monty’s legs for instance? Why was he in that old wooden wheelchair? Sheriff Hoyt, how did he lose his front teeth? For that matter, how in the hell did Sheriff Hoyt, such a perverted individual, ever become a sheriff in the first place? Leatherface, how did he come about? Did a crow crap him out on a hot rock and the sun hatch him out? How did he evolve into what he is and we answer those questions. It was fun answering those questions.”
And it gave Ermey another chance to make frighteningly rude comments. “There’s a line he says about Matthew Bomer that’s awful that I can’t repeat,” said Brewster. “At some point he called me ugly bitch and then he called someone skinny bitch. It’s awful.”
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning opens to theatres on
