When the first volume of the animated series, Star Wars: Clone Wars, came out to DVD I thought it was a piece of merchandise for only die hard Star Wars fans or straight up geeks. When the buzz around the series began to grow, however, I was talked into purchasing the DVD and giving it a shot. Holy force, the animated show was better than the first two films in the new trilogy! I was so geeked on Volume One (read here) that I immediately began recording Volume II on television.
After shooting through Volume II I was left craving more. Fortunately, Revenge of the Sith turned out to be an excellent conclusion to the new trilogy and, for a year or two, bought the animated series some time.
We know Lucas is working on a CG version of the show, but, being Lucas, these things take time.
Lucas Talks ANimated Star Wars
AP News recently caught up with George Lucas and got the Star Wars creator to give a few new details on the upcoming CG animated series Clone Wars.
Lucas said Wednesday he's making an animated TV series of "Clone Wars" that could air next year, although he hasn't sold the show to a network yet. The series is set during the time when the Republic is fighting a civil war against separatists led by Count Dooku.
The mythic period hasn't been dealt with too much in the popular "Star Wars" movies, so "it's a fun place to go," Lucas said.
"It basically has all the main characters" such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Lucas said, but the stars who played them in the movies won't voice them for the TV show.
Lucas concludes the discussion with his other project, Indiana Jones IV, and claims that the script is still a work in progress. Check out the entire interview at AP.
