Showing off a whopping twenty minutes from the film, IKlipz and Clown have received a boost in buzz.

A Clown Short of Destiny Clip on Iklipz

IKLIPZ.COM, the hot new voice in online film posting and hosting, held an exclusive online premiere for 20 minutes of director Chad Calek’s A Clown Short of Destiny, the controversial account of a bitter rivalry between Iowa bands 35” Mudder and Slipknot, on Wednesday, September 27, 2006. The iklipz premiere allowed Calek to post an exclusive excerpt from the Slipknot tell-all, followed by a live Q&A with the director. After just over a week on the site, A Clown Short of Destiny has received unprecedented online traffic for a long-form piece. With over 104,000 views as of today, Calek’s project is collecting more daily traffic than even the most viewed My Space film on an average day.

With this successful launch, iklipz has once again reinforced its standing as a new and exciting way for filmmakers to get the word out about their projects. Since its launch this summer, iklipz has skyrocketed in popularity with over 200,000 unique visitors a month. iklipz is now paving the way as THE choice for independent filmmakers for marketing and distributing their films.

Calek chose to debut the A Clown Short of Destiny excerpt on iklipz because of the site’s independent film focus. Said Calek in a statement, “My life is this film. There is nothing that I haven’t put into this. Michael Moore at one point did the same thing, Spike Lee, Kevin Smith. There has to be medium for those kinds of filmmakers because we need them. And I think that iklipz has an opportunity to be just that – a place where real indie filmmakers can go to have a career. iklipz totally exists for filmmakers, and the iklipz board is made up of a lot of Hollywood hitters and bigwigs that can really help get a filmmaker discovered and seen.”

Calek’s controversial tell-all documentary made national headlines after winning back-to-back Audience and Director's choice awards for best documentary and best music documentary at the New York Independent International Film Festival, as well as the Park City Film and Music Festival. This success prompted stories on A Clown Short of Destiny to appear on MTV.com, and in the June 2006 issue of Revolver Magazine, which featured the headline, “The Movie Slipknot Don’t Want You To See,” on the cover. The CLOWN “Trailer No. 1” has three times become the #1 most downloaded and watched trailer on My Space Film, beating out over 22,000 other indie and studio film trailers.
