Walt Disney studio Chairman Dick Cook recently
announced that Pirates
of the Caribbean has generated 1.2 billion dollars since
its release to theatres [add in DVD sales]. So, it was obviously a no brainer
to start cranking out Pirate sequels like hot cakes. And, being that this
is exactly what Disney is doing, here is some of the latest Pirates
of the Caribbean sequel news.
Pirates Get a Release Date
According to Orlando Bloom's official website, we will can expect to see
the second Pirates of the Caribbean in theatres during Summer of
2006 and the third in Summer of 2007. Do remember that EVERYONE is back
for the sequels, including Geoffrey Rush whose character, Barbossa, died
in the last film [or so we thought?]. There are also additions to the film
including Chow Yun-Fat, Keith Richards [a maybe], Alex Norton, and Stellan
Skarsgård.
Alright, alright, while a release date is exciting and all, there is even
BIGGER news just released on the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels,
but you'll have to look below to find out!
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Yes! Pirates of the
Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is the official name of the
first sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
Not too bad of a title if you ask me. But there is more! Orlando Bloom was
also willing to throw out a Dead Man's Chest movie synopsis as
well!
According to the Bloom site:
This time around, Johnny returns as Captain Jack Sparrow and is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out, Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack can't figure a crafty way out of this one, he'll be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And as if that weren't enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures.
