Randy Quaid has been stuck in the comedic genre ever since Caddy Shack II. Sure, he's done some serious roles, but it is hard to watch him not be at least a little crazy; even when he nails the part.
I guess then it comes as no surprise that he is up for a role next to another actor fulfilling the comedy genre, the hilarious Seann William Scott.
Randy Quaid for Gary the Tennis Coach
According to THR, Randy Quaid is in final negotiations to star opposite Seann William Scott in Gary the Tennis Coach.
Danny Leiner will direct.
Quaid would play the coach who is a mentor and idol to Scott's inexperienced title character.
Quaid recently portrayed King Carlos IV of Spain in Milos Forman's biopic Goya's Ghosts for Warner Bros. Pictures. He won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Lyndon Johnson in the 1987 telefilm LBJ: The Early Years.
Scott has been slow to pick up the more serious films. His filmography includes Dude, Where's My Car?, American Pie, The Rundown and The Dukes of Hazzard.
Production on Gary the Tennis Coach is scheduled to begin this month in Austin.
