Maggie Q
One thing we learned from Mission: Impossible III was that the upcoming Asian actress Maggie Q is smokin' hot. Though it is still under debate, I am still convinced she flashes her, uhh, Vuh-J-J during one of the scenes in the film. You know, the one with her rocking the hot red dress.
Damn she's hot!
Anywho, Maggie Q will be joining up with Andy Lau to make a an Asian version of Lord of the Rings. OK, OK, not really, but it will be big-budget and require double, yes, double the extras that Lord did. Wait a sec! How do they plan to pull that off with a budget less than a quarter what Fellowship's was?
Andy Lau, Maggie Q for Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon
According to Variety, Andy Lau and Maggie Q have signed on to star in Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon, a big-budget epic being put together as a pan-Asian co-production.
Daniel Lee will direct with Sammo Hung on board as action choreographer.
The film is based on "Romance of the Three Kingdoms," a 600-year-old novel by Luo Guangzhong that ranks as one of China's four most important pieces of literature. John Woo recently used the material as a source for his upcoming Battle of Red Cliff.
Lee, who penned the screenplay, took a slightly different take on the story. Instead of following one of the story's major characters, he will base the film around Zhao Zilong, a character who is considered minor. He will also take the extra step of adding new characters as well.
According to Chung Taewon, the film will use 40,000 extras, twice that of Lord of the Rings.
Maggie Q is currently in production with Live Free or Die Hard, where she co-stars with Bruce Willis.
Stay tuned for updates.
