Naomi Watts
Naomi Watts has been a popular girl of late. Only last night did we mention the recent The Birds rumor and now another film featuring her, coincidentally another remake, has been picked up for distribution.
WIP Gets Distrib Rights for Funny Games Remake
According to Variety, Warner Independent Pictures has signed a deal for distribution rights for director Michael Haneke's English-language debut, a remake of his 1997 film Funny Games.
The territories include the U.S., France, Spain and Australia.
The film will star Naomi Watts along with Tim Roth, Michael Pitt, Brady Corbet and Devon Gearhart.
The original film told the story of a family held captive by two unknown men while on vacation. Imagine if you will, what you'd get if you combined The Hills Have Eyes and High Tension. Well, not exactly, but you get what I mean.
Besides toplining the film, Watts is also executive producing.
Haneke's last effort, thriller Cache, grossed $3.64 million domestically in a release through Sony Pictures Classics.
Stay tuned for updates.
