Fantastic Mr. Fox
Though there are new CG techniques that animators use to create the look of stop motion, Fox Animation is ready to go back to the real thing with Dahl's Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Fox Animation Acquires Fantastic Mr. Fox
According to Variety,
Wes Anerson and Noah Baumback will team to adapt the Roald Dahl classic, Fantastic Mr. Fox, for 20th Century Fox's animation division, Fox Animation.
Now, I know what you are thinking, that's a lot of Fox.
Wes Anderson will also direct and produce the film with Scott Rudin.
Roald Dahl's classic novel tells the story of a fox who uses its wits and cunning to outfox three dimwitted farmers who tire of sharing their chickens with the fox and resort to a shock-and-awe offensive.
The book was originally acquired by Revolution Studios but, when they folded, Fox Animation president Chris Meledandri was able to pick up the pieces.
Wes Anderson has been close to Fox thanks to The Darjeeling Limited, an upcoming film starring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Schwartzman. Mr. Fox will be Anderson's first animated project.
Fox has a growing slew of animated films coming our way including The Simpsons on July 27th, 2007, and Horton Hears a Who in 2008.
