Both have been talking about it a long time and now it looks like it is finally going to happen. That's right, Jet Li and Jackie Chan are ready to square off. But will Chan bring the alcohol?
Jackie Chan and Jet Li to Team
According to Variety,
Relativity Media has picked up Jackie Chan and Jet Li to co-star together for the first time in a big-budget family film.
Robert Minkoff will direct, while martial arts expert Yuen Woo-Ping will create the action sequences. Minkoff's credits include The Lion King and Stuart Little.
The film, known as the untitled J&J project, has been discussed for some time but has recently broken ground when Relativity jumped aboard.
The John Fusco script is based on the legend of the monkey king and his quest to achieve immortality. Li is set to play two roles, that of the monkey king and the silent monk. Chan will play the monk T'sa-Ho. The two martial-arts masters have long said they would like to appear together in a film and fight each other.
Relativity is already in talks with U.S. studios for distribution and describes the project as an action-adventure with martial-arts sequences.
Production on the project is set to begin in April.
