Everlost
Neal Shusterman's Everlost is the latest addition to a flurry of acquisitions set to be adapted over at Universal. Universal, with the help of Gary Ross's Larger Than Life banner, is barely giving these books a chance to be read; Everlost has been on bookshelves for just over two months.
Everlost Set for Adaptation
According to Variety,
Universal Pictures has picked up Everlost as a possible directing vehicle for Gary Ross through his Larger Than Life banner. Author Neal Shusterman will write the script.
Everlost tells the story of Nick and Allie, teenage passengers in cars that collide. They meet in a netherworld known as Everlost, unsure if they're alive. The teens try to navigate an odd world that is populated by young people from different historical periods, with a couple of baddies in the mix.
Allison Thomas and Naketha Mattocks will produce for Larger Than Life.
"We liked the characters, and the idea that it was an action adventure story that had no wizards or dragons, that wasn't driven by magic like so many of these films are," said Thomas. "This is an alternative universe, almost Peter Pan-ish, with its own set of rules and two strong lead characters trying to find their way back to their families."
Like most fantastical adaptations of recent, Everlost is the first book of an upcoming series. Can somebody say franchise?
