Save a few films, Julia Roberts has always been known to play the character Julia Roberts extremely well. Heck, Ocean's 12 tries to do a spoof on the idea; a spoof that turned out to be more dumb than anything.
Deciding if one needs Roberts to join the cast of the film should be easy. You look at the character needing to be cast, decide if that character should be Julia Roberts, and then go cast Julia Roberts. The actress, good though she may be, is cursed with the ability to only play a single character; even in the most different of stories.
But if you like Julia Roberts you like Julia Roberts. Get it?
Julia Roberts for The Friday Night Knitting Club
Universal Pictures has recently added Julia Roberts to the callsheet of the upcoming family drama, The Friday Night Knitting Club. Roberts will also produce alongside Christine Peters.
Based on a novel from author Kate Jacobs, The Friday Night Knitting Club tells the story of a single mom who juggles the demands of running a Manhattan knitting store with raising her spunky teen daughter. Her regular customers gather once a week to work on their latest projects and chat, but when a tragedy occurs, the customers realize they've created more than just a knitting club.
Knitters, always thinking their club is more than it is. Pshh.
Roberts can next be seen with Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War. The actress is also working on the starring vehicle Eat, Pray, Love, which we all know is better than eat, sleep... Nevermind.
