Carrey in The Number 23
It turns out that funny man Jim Carrey does not feel like being humorous anymore. After finding success in the 'drama' genre with Eternal Sunshine, Carrey has once again challenged himself with something a little more demanding. Instead of confusion and adventure while traveling through his very own mind, Carrey will face the strongest of paranoia's all set on a single pair of digits -- The Number 23.
The Number 23 Trailer
The Number 23 is your standard story of boy meets book, book freaks out boy, boy sees the number 23 just about everywhere, and the book finishes him off by suggesting a character's demise. OK, so that isn't exactly standard, but it is what director Joel Schumacher is throwing at us with The Number 23. Carrey, who has only recently discovered his true gift of non-exaggerated theatrics, again looks like he has found a genre that suits him.
After watching Liar, Liar a few times on the tube recently, I have to admit that his move out of the comedy genre has been a pleasant one.
That being said, New Line Cinema has released the first trailer for The Number 23 and the film/Carrey looks pretty intense. Just when things couldn't get any stranger, we encounter what looks to be a dream at the end featuring Carrey all tattooed out. Could he end up harming others? Hard to say, but the chances would lower considerably if he'd just put the knife down.
