Morgan Freeman for Wanted
The last time Freeman played a wanted man he ended up getting beaten to death by Gene Hackman in Unforgiven.
Instead of being the hunted, his final negotiations with Universal Pictures could make hiim the hunter. Freeman will co-star with James McAvoy in Wanted, a sci-fi actioner that will serve as the English-language debut of Russian filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov.
Wanted is based on a comic book miniseries by Mark Millar and J.G. Jones published by Top Cow. The story follows a put-upon man (McAvoy) who discovers that his long-lost father is an assassin. After his dad is murdered, the son is recruited into a covert organization of killers and trained to follow in his father's footsteps.
Freeman will play a role similar to Liam Neeson in Batman Begins. Upon arriving to the organization, McAvoy's character will meet Sloan (Freeman), the lead assassin who has been assigned to train him.
The script was written by Derek Haas, Michael Brandt and Chris Morgan.
Freeman was last seen as The Boss in Lucky Number Sleven. The actor has a whole slew of new films coming our way including Evan Almighty.
